The Anxious Psychologist

A blog by a therapist sharing both personal and professional experiences about mental health.

About the Blog

Hello and welcome!

Even though there is more widespread awareness of the importance of mental health, there is still so much that is unknown, and stigma unfortunately still exists. This blog will focus on a range of mental health topics coming from the perspective of a professional in the field, as well as someone who has experienced their own mental health challenges. My goal for this space is to provide a very real, while also informed, discussion of mental health topics. Many of these discussions will be coming from the perspective of a therapist aimed for others in the mental health field, however my hope is to produce content that can be thought-provoking and be relevant to people who have diverse perspectives and experiences.

Who I AM

I graduated with my doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2022 and currently work as a licensed psychologist providing individual therapy. As I’ve embarked on my career post graduate school, I have found some isolation and loneliness in the field, especially as someone who works from home most days. Whenever I have the opportunity to talk with colleagues about cases or just general issues in the field, I find this to be incredibly rewarding and energizing. This is part of the reason I decided to start this blog. My hope is that these topics will help others, whether a mental health provider or not, feel seen and connected in a world where so many of us are more isolated than we’ve ever been.

In addition to my professional experience, I am someone who has struggled with anxiety throughout my life and see my own therapist. I have seen family members struggle with depression, substance use, and ADHD. As well as providing a perspective from a clinical lens, I while also providing a real and personal aspect to the topics that I write about.
